Our Season Tree: Autumn Edition
We were a little late taking the fall picture of our tree. Unfortunately we had quite a bit of illness in our class and I like to make sure that EVERYONE is included. We found this tree had a few leaves still hanging on.

HATS!
The highlight of Hh week is making hats. The students colored, decorated, and then wore their hats to lunch show them off.
The kids made me cry!
This morning I walked into school and saw a banner in the hallway signed by all of the elementary students. They had kept it a secret for days...I had no idea! It was very touching. I am running the Des Moines marathon on Sunday and they were wishing me "good luck".

Listen to Reading
Today we learned about our last Daily, "Listen to Reading". We listen to reading because it helps us to become better readers ...... and of course it is FUN!
Madisyn is listening to stories that have been downloaded onto our ipod (thank you, thank you, thank you PTO)!
Abby is listening to nursery rhymes on the computer. We have two computers going for Listen to Reading.
Luke is listening to stories on a walkman (blast from the past...right?). Most of the kids had no idea what it was. By the way, if you have one at your house collecting dust I would be able to put it to use in the classroom.

Fire Prevention Week
Today members of the Gladbrook and Lincoln Fire Departments visited our school to teach us more fire safety tips.
They told us about their gear and we got to see what a fireman looks like and sounds like. We know that we don't have to be afraid when we see a fireman.
They started a fire so that they could show us how to use a fire extinguisher. Here a fireman is demonstrating how to use it.
We got to practice using a fire extinguisher....there was no fire.
The highlight was getting to ride around town on top of the fire truck. They had the lights and sirens going!

REBEL Spirit!
Gladbrook Elementary with the Rebel cheerleaders and a few of the senior football players. The students really enjoyed the Homecoming pep rally this morning!
